About This Course

Evolution has resulted in a two-channel system – Survive and Thrive – which influences how we respond to threats and opportunities. The majority of people tend to vastly underestimate the power of our built-in survival instinct and how it can, inadvertently, overwhelm our capacity to see opportunities, innovate, adapt, lead, and change for the better.

In this course, you will assess your own levels of Survive and Thrive, learn to recognize Survive and Thrive responses in your organization, and practice specific strategies to reframe challenges into opportunities in the face of growing uncertainty. Through an immersive case study, you will apply concrete approaches and “starter language” into key leadership moments to both mitigate Survive and activate Thrive in others. In addition, you will employ tactics to reduce Survive-inducing noise for yourself and your team.

Leading Through Uncertainty was designed by the most seasoned Kotter experts. As part of the experience, you will apply five proven tactics for mitigating Survive and activating Thrive to your own, real-life change challenges. By gathering inspiration from hard-to-believe organizational transformations and gaining a richer understanding of how you can build resilience in yourself, you will leave with a renewed sense of assurance that you can effectively lead through uncertainty.

Guiding an organization through uncertainty begins with each of us as leaders. In this module, you will assess how you respond to events from the perspective of Survive and Thrive. You will then learn to reframe challenges into opportunities, and build your own energy and momentum, despite disruption and uncertainty.

Leading Your Team and Organization through Uncertainty 

Effectively leading through uncertainty is demonstrated one moment at a time. In this module, you will sharpen your ability to mitigate Survive and activate Thrive in others by applying concrete strategies and language in crucial moments. Through an immersive case study, you will assess how leaders approach key conversation choices and guide others to move forward through uncertainty. You will also apply tactics to reduce the “noise” in your environment and fuel Thrive in others in the face of disruption and adversity.
